Syreon Research Institute is proud to share that the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has published its 2026 report, Delivering High-Value Cancer Care, informed in part by evidence generated through the EuroACT project, to which Syreon is the academic partner.
EuroACT (European Atlas on Clinical Trials in Cancer and Hematology) data is included in two critical chapters of the OECD report:
- Chapter 3 examines cross-country disparities in access to cancer clinical trials across the EU, drawing directly on EuroACT’s geographic analysis of trial availability.
- Chapter 5 uses EuroACT evidence to assess the use of patient-reported outcomes (PROs) in oncology clinical trials, highlighting gaps in how patient perspectives are captured and reported
This recognition underscores our collaboration’s growing impact as a patient-led, data-driven, evidence-based, supporting more equitable, and people-centred cancer research and policymaking across Europe.
EuroACT (European Atlas on Clinical Trials in Cancer and Hematology) is a research project initiated by WECAN and the European Hematology Community, developed in collaboration with the European Patient Advocacy Institute and Syreon Research Institute. The project maps the clinical trial landscape across the WHO European Region using data from European clinical trial registries to:
- identify inequalities and cross-country differences in access to clinical trials, and
- generate evidence on the use and publication of quality-of-life (QoL) instruments and patient-reported outcomes in clinical research.
At Syreon Research Institute, we have contributed methodological and analytical expertise to EuroACT for four years now, supporting evidence that helps patient advocacy organisations, researchers, and policymakers make future clinical trials more accessible, more equitable, and more relevant to patients’ lived experiences, also resulting in meaningful patient engagement across all levels of healthcare decision-making.
