After months of preparation, we were proud to welcome 27 participants from across the health sectors and regions to the first Syreon Academy Training in Health Economics and Outcomes Research, held in Budapest between 14–16 October 2025. Over the three days, attendees deepened their expertise, gained new skills, and built connections around evidence-informed healthcare decision-making.

Day 1 – Evidence Synthesis in Health Technology Assessment (HTA)

Led by Zoltán Vokó, the session guided participants through the fundamentals of systematic literature reviews (SLRs), meta-analyses, and network meta-analyses. Key takeaways included the importance of a clearly defined research goal, comprehensive literature identification, and independent reviewing to minimise bias. Participants also explored advanced analytical tools for conducting and visualising meta-analyses through hands-on practice.

Day 2 – AI in the Value Assessment of Health Technologies

Under the guidance of Ákos Bernard Jóźwiak, Tamás Dóczi, László Balkányi, and Attila Imre, participants explored how artificial intelligence emerged, how AI-based tools function, and how these could be implemented in practice, while keeping pace with AI’s rapid evolution. The key message: scientists won’t be replaced by AI — but by those who know how to use it. The session demonstrated how AI tools can accelerate discovery, enhance efficiency, and – even more importantly – completely change processes.

Day 3 – Implementation of Value-Based Pricing and Sustainability in HTA

Led by Zoltán Kaló and Bertalan Németh, participants explored how to assess the value of health technologies and apply value-based pricing principles in real-world contexts. Through hands-on economic modelling exercises, they learned how to adapt the value-based price to any medicines based on locally relevant data – even in multiple indications. Zoltán Kaló and Tamás Dóczi concluded the day with the importance of incorporating additional patient-centric and societal value elements (such as environmental aspects) into the value judgment of health technologies.

A huge thank you to all participants for your enthusiasm, curiosity, and collaboration throughout the training.

And special thanks to the Syreon Academy Team for their dedication and hard work in making this event possible!

We look forward to seeing you again at future Syreon Academy trainings!
